Walking into the grocery store, I was approached by a rough brother. The closer he got, the more concerned I got. When he started to speak, I had no idea what he was going to say. Then he got to the point, “You got any weed?” I replied, “I’m sorry, I don’t.” Walking away, the brother exclaimed, “Fuck you man!” I guess he just needed some pot. I’ve never smoked weed before. Though, I know more than a few people who do. As a matter of fact, I know one very well. In the midst of debates over marijuana, It is important to insert an important point…Jesus smokes weed.
There are sick people all over our nation who smoke weed to make it through their day. Study after study has shown that marijuana offers significant benefits to people suffering from all sorts of ailments. In Matthew 25, Jesus declares, “I am sick.” Through this incarnation, Jesus experiences the pain and the treatments of the sick. Jesus gets high to get well.
Recently, US Attorney General Jeff Sessions forcefully condemned laws legalizing marijuana. Not only is he wrong, he is also a heretic. By turning his back on the sick, he is turning his back on the Jesus that he claims.
Sickness is a broad category. People smoke weed for all sorts of reasons. I would argue that most of these reasons are based in sickness of some kind. It is important to realize that we’re all sick and in need of a strong dose of medicine. To treat our ailments, maybe we just need to follow Jesus and smoke some weed.
